The Upstairs Flight
03:36
|
|||
You'd think it would be as simple as it used to be,
be mine the same mind I've always had and used to think.
But now, oh, we've changed.
And how, oh, an old friend seems strange.
Someone once said, "You can't let it go to your head".
So how come it's everyone I know?
Picture perfect, at least it was in my head.
So how come it's everyone I know?
I never thought that mine would be just as prone to flee.
It never once occured to me, as I laughed callously.
But now, oh, we've changed.
And how, oh, an old friend seems strange.
Someone once said, "You can't let it go to your head".
So how come it's everyone I know?
Picture perfect, at least it was in my head.
So how come it's everyone I know?
Desolation, where'd you leave me lost this time?
Anticipation's gone and cost me my poor mind.
Oh my! I could have been someone, I should have been someone I could believe. I could have been someone, I should have been someone I could believe. Hey.
So how come it's everyone I know?
How come it's everyone I know?
Oh, we've changed.
Oh, an old friend seems strange.

Not Just A Long Face
03:54
|
|||
I wipe tears from my eyes again.
Yes, it's an uncommon trait in men to cry as much as I tend to now and then.
Still, I can't help the way I feel.
It's natural to me and very real.
My heart goes out to those who can't share the sentiment.
"What's wrong, what's wrong? Oh, come on, come on", is what they say. They can't understand it's just how I am, not just a long face.
And so I hide it when I can, if only to avoid some dumb debate.
I'd rather not get into it with them and let it pass.
Still, I can't help the way I feel.
It's natural to me and very real.
My heart goes out to those who can't share the sentiment.
"What's wrong, what's wrong? Oh, come on, come on", is what they say. They can't understand it's just how I am, not just a long face. It's not just a long face.
"Oh, there he goes again..."
"What's wrong, what's wrong? Oh, come on, come on", is what they say. They can't understand it's just how I am, not just a long face.
It's not just a long face.

For Romance
02:47
|
|||
I live for romance.
And I strive for happiness.
But there is a message echoing in the back of my mind.
It says, "Don't stray too high, please recall last time".
And so, I live for romance.
But I am a realist.
I've learned my lesson twice.
There will not be another time.
And there my young heart lies, there my young heart lies.
It says, "Don't stray too high, please recall last time".
I live for romance.
I've learned my lesson twice.
There will not be another time.
And there my young heart lies, and there my young heart lies.
It says, "Don't stray too high, please recall last time".

The Book Is Closed
03:06
|
|||
It's been a while since you've stepped out.
You've forgotten what it's all about.
All the nights out on the round-about, for what?
And now the same faces are there, though they've never held such icy stares.
Makes you wonder why they'd even care so much?
You'll go home painfully alone.
You're asking yourself, "what went wrong?", but there's nothing now that can be done.
The book is closed.
That's just how some stories go.
They're over before you even know.
It's been a while since you've stepped out.
You've forgotten what it's all about.
All the nights out on the round-about, for what?
Some momentary likeness of something that you once knew and loved? Something you never knew enough about?
You'll go home painfully alone.
You're asking yourself, "what went wrong?", but there's nothing now that can be done.
The book is closed.
That's just how some stories go.
They're over before you even know.
You'll go home painfully alone.
You're asking yourself, "what went wrong?", but there's nothing now that can be done.
The book is closed.
That's just how some stories go.
They're over before you even know. Before you know...

Enough Is Only Enough

What happened back there?
If I wasn't smarter I think somehow
You let them get you
I know it's not like you to be boiled down
Well, I've been inside of my own head
Waiting for a moment when
Things would loosen up and then...
Down came the rain
And we called the game
Down from the same rafters from back when
Balconies emptied and made a bed
For you
What happened back there?
A flash in the mirror of yesterday
I let it get me
Chew me and spit me so far away
Well, I fell in love with a girl
Danced my way into a blur
And just like that the thing unfurled...
What happened back there?
If I wasn't smarter I think somehow
You let them get you
I know it's not like you to be boiled down
